Setup A Blog (Need more information on this topic?)

You can easily setup a blog for your web site by using the cPanel interface.

 

What is a blog?

According to WikiPedia, "a blog is a website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order."

 

A blog is primarily used to post ideas, thoughts, and information on any given topic. Blogs can be used for marketing in a variety of ways including delivering traffic to your web site, interacting with visitors and potential customers, or helping you build your own reputation in any area you choose.

The tutorial below will cover installing WordPress through the cPanel interface. To learn more about WordPress, visit the WordPress web site at http://wordpress.org/.

 

Note: There are other scripts available that you can automatically install to enhance your website's functionality.

 

To get started, follow the instructions below.

 

1. Login to cPanel.

 

2. When the page loads, click on the "Scripts Library" link in the Software section.

 

 

3. When the page loads, click on the "WordPress" link in the "Blogs" category.

 

4. Read the "License Terms" for the WordPress software. Then move on to Step 5.

 

5. Enter the username you want to use to login to your WordPress blog in the "Admin User" text box.

 

 

6. Enter the password you want to use to login to your WordPress blog in the "Admin Pass" text box.

 

 

7. Enter the email address you want associated with your WordPress blog administrator in the "Email" text box.

 

 

8. You can change the location of where your WordPress blog will be installed or leave it as the root path and "wordpress" directory as shown below.

 

 

9. Leave the "Table Prefix" and "MySQL DB" information as default.

 

 

10. Click on the "Install" button.

 

 

11. When the page loads, it will state something similar to the following:

 

"Done! You can access your new addon at http://yourdomain/your-wordpress-directory"

 

"The user is username and the pass is password"

 

12. Click on the url shown in Step 11 above.

 

13. Your new WordPress blog has been installed and ready for you to configure and use accordingly.
